Catch up with a friend

My thoughts on friendship

I met up with one my best friends for brunch yesterday. It’s always nice to catch up with a loved one after you haven’t seen each other in a while. Everyone is busy these days. And on the days you aren’t busy, you just want to stay at home, sleep in and avoid the rain.

I love a good catch up, it gets you up to speed. There are certain topics that you need to speak about face to face as a phone call just won’t cut it.

Friendships are special and I believe that female friendships can be very powerful. It can be a source of emotional support and self-esteem. Being surrounded with women who are career-oriented, loving and have similar values to you is a blessing. I am thankful for my friends in my life. They have always supported me and given me good advice when I was in need of it. I believe a problem shared is a problem halved. When I share my problems with my friends, they are always there for me emotionally but also armed with logical, practical solutions. What’s surprising to me is that when I think there is no solution, my friends would offer me something that I hadn’t thought of. It’s sometimes difficult to think rationally when you’re in an emotional turmoil, so having people around you who have your best interests at heart is important.

As I grow older I understand the importance of checking up on your friends. A quick message to ask them how their day has been is so important and I love receiving those messages too.
If you have a friend, message them today and check up on them especially during these tough times. Just knowing that someone is out there who cares about you can be enough to put a smile on your face.
